Healing In The Heat – A Sauna For Trauma
A two-hour sauna workshop inviting you to explore life’s challenges through guided prompts, discussion and space for reflection, led by an Author and a Psychotherapist.
About your facilitators: Rob Whelan (Psychotherapist), Anne-Marie Cockburn (Author and Wellbeing Facilitator) and Lewis Etheridge (Sauna Owner and Yoga Practitioner) bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in trauma, healing and wellbeing.
Not all healing begins with a crisis. Sometimes it starts with a quiet feeling that something needs attention — a lingering thought, a small sadness, a sense of being stuck, or a question you’ve been carrying for longer than you’d like.
Healing in the Heat offers a space to pause and be with whatever is present. Rather than trying to fix, change, or push feelings away, this experience invites you to notice them, make room for them, and bear witness to what’s there.
This session is for anyone curious about exploring heat and cold as a way of connecting more deeply with themselves and gently expanding their capacity to endure discomfort.
The experience includes three sauna sessions, guided discussion and reflection, alongside personal insights about healing and growth shared by your hosts and one-another. As we sit within the intensity of the sauna, you will be guided to use your breath and pay attention to what your feelings, thoughts, and physical sensations may be telling you. Following the first sauna session, we will make our way to the lake. Whether you choose to stand ankle-deep in the water or fully immerse yourself, you will be encouraged to move at your own pace.
We will then return to the sauna for a second session, creating an opportunity to reflect and notice any shifts in body, mind, or mood, followed by another moment at the lake before returning for a third and final sauna session.
Come as you are. Leave with fresh insight, renewed perspective, and the knowledge that you can sit with more than you may have imagined.
No previous sauna or cold-water experience is necessary. Simply bring your curiosity and a willingness to meet yourself exactly where you are.
Sessions take place monthly on Sundays from 4-6pm, and are charged at £25.
